Learn to say "I don't know." If used when appropriate, it will be often.
                                                                                             - Donald Rumsfeld

I do not know why some people pretend that they know everything in their respective domain and for proving their views right they give silly examples. Very often I come across such type of people especially during presentations, training and KT sessions. Instead of saying I don’t know; they give irrelevant explanation of your questions/queries or try to deviate from the main topic…..

What is wrong in saying that “I don’t know”? No one is perfect in this world. Learning is a never ending process. When we learn to say: “I don’t know” openly, then we will also be open to learn new things from others.

I believe that to utter these three words, “I don’t know” in front of many people require more courage and self-confidence than pretending to know everything. The choice is yours whether you want to trap in your own net by giving wrong examples or want to learn more by saying that I don’t know, but I am ready to learn!!! J J J

Life in Hyderabad....

Today while reading the newspaper in the morning I realized that I have completed almost 1.5 years in Hyderabad. Time is running it seems. When I came here I was little scared about this place. There were many ‘if’ and ‘buts’ in my mind. But, now life seems to be settled down. I have made so many good friends over here both at the personal and professional fronts; I am enjoying my life. Hyderabad is a good place, but definitely after some period of time I want to go back to the north. But, I don’t know when that time will come...
I have not made any specific plans for this coming Sunday. I love weekends because in weekends only you can spend your entire day without making any plans. You can do anything... Otherwise, during weekdays, my first work is to prepare a ‘To-do list’ to avoid missing any task and deadline....
Day after tomorrow is Monday. I am expecting a hectic schedule from Monday onwards; need to attend one KT and then I have to complete one task within a short period of time...

A few days ago, one of my friends told me that one person needs B-negative blood group urgently. I conveyed the same to all my friends in Hyderabad. Then, I forgot about the incidence and presumed that person might be recovered from his illness. Today I asked my friend about that person; she told me he died on the same day because of multiple organ failure. I was shocked. Today only I came to know that he was of my age group and died because of jaundice. Feeling low…I hate this kind of sudden departure because it creates a vacuum in the lives of your near and dear ones, which cannot be filled by any other thing…

Today in the meditation class, I learned about the power of positive thoughts and impact of positive and negative vibes on human beings.

1. Power of positive thoughts:
There are four types of thoughts that can be generated in our mind:
  • Positive thoughts
  • Negative thoughts
  • Necessary thoughts
  • Unnecessary thoughts
For leading a successful life, it is essential to think always positive thoughts in your mind because such thoughts are very powerful and can direct your entire energy in fulfillment of your desired wishes. We should always think optimistic about our image because we are in charge of our body. If we do not think well about ourselves, then who will be? I know it is very difficult to think always positive in your mind, but at least we can try and by constant practice, it can become our habit. One should always remember that every cloud has a silver lining. We cannot change our present situation, but by thinking positively we can make our future better…

2. Impact of positive and negative vibes on human beings:
Every human being release some sort of vibes that can influence the thinking of another person as well. Sometimes by meeting a stranger we feel very good. Positive thoughts fill in our mind and we want to meet that person again and again. It’s because of positive vibes only and sometimes just the reverse of it can also be happened; we feel depressed just by talking to any particular person because that person may release negative vibes in his surrounding.

I do not know whether this concept is right or not. But I believe that it’s very important to think always positively because if you won’t trust your capabilities then no one else will show confidence in you.

‘Your nature is absolute peace. You are not the mind. Silence your mind through concentration and meditation, and you will discover the peace of the Spirit that you are, and have always been’
‘Learn to calm down the winds of your mind, and you will enjoy great inner peace’

(Author of both the quotes : Anonymous)
Around six months ago, HCM team in our office has conducted one session on meditation. I found that session very informative. Somewhere, I wished that I too get a chance to attend meditation classes. Last week one of my friends told me that meditation classes are conducted very close to my place.  I decided that I will do it very sincerely and try to get the best out of it. Today I attended my first session on Raja yoga meditation. The main aim of Raja Yoga meditation is to control all thought-waves or mental modifications.  It is a seven day course.
It was an awesome experience for me. The instructor beautifully explained the entire concept behind spirituality, what is the relation between good karmas and bad ones, rebirth, etc. She told me about the advantages of meditation. Meditation gives you a clear spiritual understanding of yourself, helps you rediscover and use the positive qualities already latent within you, enables you to develop your strengths of character and create new attitudes and responses to life.
While doing meditation I tried to focus on supreme point of purest energy/GOD, but failed to do so. Perhaps it was my first attempt that’s why.  Tomorrow again I have to wake up early in the morning to attend its second session.
So friends may be by the end of this course you will find new Neha; less talkative, more mature, and balanced person. I am not sure about the first one because I love to interact with people, but I will try to incorporate the remaining two qualities into me...

‘Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom’
                                                                                                 - By Marcel Proust

Today while discussing on mother’s day, one of my friends said that all these days are rubbish; it is just a way of making money for some gift/card making companies. You do not require a special day for expressing your feelings towards your near and dear ones.
My opinion is slightly different in this regard. I think that such type of small events in life can sweeten your relationships…
If you express your emotions with your loved ones on some special occasions…you make them realize that they are special for you in your life. I believe that if you love someone, you should convey it. Everyone wants to be feel special, required and respected in life…after all we are social beings. Relationships are very important in life and one should make every effort to make healthy and harmonious bond with everyone. Day after tomorrow is mother’s day. This is the first time when I have not planned any surprise gift for my mother. Thanks to my sister, she ease out my tension, she has already brought one small gift for this special occasion. Hey friends, I am going to express my feelings to my mother on this mother’s day. Are you as well?

Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood”

                                                                - By Ralph Waldo Emerson

Life will teach you the lessons; it is up to you to learn them

                                                                 Author - Anonymous

Today finally I have completed that tedious task…feeling great…. I learnt a lot from that assignment both at personal and professional front. So I have decided to share my lessons with you all.

At professional front:
  • Never say: “NO” openly to any work that is assigned to you. Take your time, think over it and then come up with your observations/concerns.
  • Never give strong reaction to any problem faced at the work front.
  • If you have made some mistakes, confess it; do not give explanations to hide it. After all no one is perfect. Accept what you did wrong and try to do better next time…
  • Manage your time properly. Make a daily schedule so that by the end of the day you can keep track of your progress.
  • Stop complaining. The more you complain about something, the more of that something you invite into your life.
  • When involved as a team, never try to directly pinpoint other’s person mistake.
  • Do not give up easily. See hurdles as opportunities to excel/polish yourself.

At personal front:
  • Spend some time alone. You will feel rejuvenated.
  • Discuss your feelings with your friends/family members. You can share silly things with your best friends without thinking much. This is the one of the advantages of having good friends in life…
  • Never bring your office tensions at home.
  • Never mix your professional life with the personal one. What I feel is that personal life is more important than professional one… So always keep a balance between two lives…
  • Value the importance of simplicity. Try to find happiness in small things like smile of a kid, sunrise, cold breeze…
  • Be a good listener…Give respect to other’s notions as well.
  • Don’t act or speak when you are angry or upset.

The Magic of Smile!!!

‘A smile costs nothing but gives much.  It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give.  It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever’
                                                                                                 – Anonymous author

Today while returning from office, I faced a strange incident. Normally I never preferred to talk any stranger especially when I am alone. But I don’t know what happened to me today; I smiled at one girl she may be around in her early teens and she started chatting with me. She said that my smile makes her remind of her sister. At the end she thanked me for lifting her spirits. What an experience it was! I never realized that a small “smile” can create such a magic. It can melt ice between two strangers…
What I believe is that smile helps us to feel connected. When we smile at another person we not only let them consider that they are required, respected, but that smile can also create a beautiful bond too…
Smile is good for us; it is free of cost, easy and doesn’t take much time. When we smile Endorphin released into our body that have the power to reduce the symptoms of physical or mental pain. Endorphins can make us feel happy, and whenever we smile, we release them. A simple act of smiling can convert negative mindset into positive one…
So friends, next time whenever you feel sad, please try to smile. Perhaps your mood will change and you will feel better…
