New Places….

In my five years of career, I have moved and lived in various places, met many people and learned many lessons from experiences in life. So far I have lived in six cities and one country. It is now time to say goodbye to Abu Dhabi. This Thursday I am going back to India with mixed feelings in my heart. I am happy that I will meet my family but at the same time, I will miss all my friends I have made over here.

During these seven months I have learned many things. First time I lived alone in an apartment. Living alone is all together a different experience. You start feeling responsible for your own safety. Before sleeping, now I never forget to double check whether all switches are off and the door is locked properly JJ

I learned how to respect other customs, culture and other things without losing my own identity and culture. Abu Dhabi is a cosmopolitan state of UAE where you find people from all over the world. It’s a beautiful and well planned state regarding infrastructure.

I also learned that at the workplace, it is very important to understand and value human emotions. Many a times when we feel low or stressed, we need people with whom we are comfortable with. I am lucky that I have a few friends here on whom I can trust blindly.

Before coming to Abu Dhabi I was a little bit scared about the new country and new assignments. But now I can say that if you ever get a chance to live in a new place just grab it. It will open new doors of exploration for you J J

New Experiences!!!

I have completed twelve days in a new country. When I came here I was not sure about my acclimatization in the new culture/ work environment.  But now I can say that I am a lucky person in terms of relationships and meeting good people in life.
Today when I went to the dining area of my hotel for breakfast, I was deeply touched when I saw one uncle who is a hotel catering staff over there brought home made Indian curry for me. For one second, I felt speechless when he said in Hindi in “ke mujhe laga ke aap ko ghar ke curry achi lagegi”.
He is an Indian and this is the common linkage we share. Daily during breakfast time, he comes to serve me tea and he never forgot to ask me about my well-being. But today his simple gesture touched my soul and that home-made Aloo curry was absolutely delicious.
This week I  also finalized one studio apartment for me. It’s a small 1 BHK flat and this is also the first time when I am going to live all alone in a flat without friends/family members.

I think life is going to teach me good experiences here which will help me in the future and I am prepared for it……

Trip to Burj Khalifa

Last month I went to Dubai to attend one training program. At random we decided to make a plan to visit to Burj Khalifa. It is the tallest building in the world and is a classic example of urban architecture. It was formerly known as Burj Dubai, but later renamed as Burj Khalifa, after the name of UAE president.

For those who visit Dubai, Burj Khalifa has become a must visit location. It is 828 m tall and has 163 floors. But one can go till the 124th floor of the Burj. We have booked tickets in advance to go to the top and the cost of the ticket is 125 AED which is affordable for the one time experience.

We reached there at around 5 pm. After some 20 minutes of waiting, it was our turn to get into the elevator. It was a huge elevator with some music keeps playing and blue lights were flashing inside the elevator. It took around one minute for us to reach to the 124th floor. The fastest climb up ever in my life!!! But in that one minute everyone in our group felt sensation in their ears due to sudden change air pressure.

Burj Khalifa - Story :)
In this snap, I tried to capture the apex of Burj Khalifa
View of Dubai from Burj Khalifa

At the top, the view of Dubai city was breathtaking. We spent around one hour there looking at the land below and taking snaps from different angles.
In the night, we had also explored SEGA Republic. It is situated in Dubai mall only and while doing online booking for Burj Khalifa, you can also book tickets for SEGA Republic. It is a high – adrenaline indoor theme park with lots of rides, games and other activities. Out of many rides, I especially enjoyed the sonic hopper, 3D wild jungle ride and spin gear.

I am ending this blog post from the learning; I learned from this trip:

“No dream is too big”. With continuous focus and hard work, we can achieve anything in our lives.  “So live, love and cherish your dreams”

Personal versus Public....

“Life sucks! Thanks A*(person tagged) for making me feel like this”.....

“Never take any relationship for granted”.... feeling like a dump....

“Relationship status complicated” – Friends please comment!!!

Very often I saw such kind of personal updates on FB News-feed.  I think now it becomes a common trend to give details of even the minutest things on social networking sites.
In my view, it is fine to share details about the places you are travelling, hang out with friends, family or any other common stuff. In fact I love to update my check-in details, if I visited any new place. But venting out your personal emotions on social media is absolute madness.
I know it is very difficult to control emotions especially when we are deeply hurt. But there is undeniably no need to blurt negative emotions that too on social networking sites. Negative words written on FB walls/twitter can really wound.
I have seen ending of many beautiful relationships just because of one wrong move by another person. Trust is the base of any relationship and if you break it by posting extremely personal posts/pictures on Facebook twitter, etc. You cannot blame social media for that. Can you???
You lost that beautiful relation because of your immaturity!!
I am ending this post on a very short note:
“There is a reason why some part of your life is called personal life… try to differentiate between what is public and personal”!!!

Six Lessions Learned in 2013

Year 2013 is half completed. So it is better to jot down the top six lessons I have learned so far JJ
  • Don’t expect that you will encounter only “good” people in life. People are not always who they appear to be. Sometimes our perception against people failed. Rather than blaming on your poor judgment, accept it and move on JJ
  •  Hard work and patience really pays in a long run. There is seriously “no shortcut for success”.
  • There is “nothing wrong” in not listening to other’s advice; if you feel that you can take better decision. “Trust your mind and heart”….
  •  If you really want to follow your heart, go somewhere where no one disturbs you, sit for some time in “silence” and think what you really want in life! Believe me your heart will never disappoint you...
  •  “Change is inevitable” in nature. Adopt a “flexible attitude” towards change.
  • Always” keep in touch” with people who matters a lot to you. Life becomes awesome in the company of your near and dear ones. Don’t wait for the right moment, just go and tell them how much you “appreciate” them  JJ

Sea Waves....

Like sunrise and sunset, I love to watch sea waves. It reminds me that nothing is static in nature. You never know when your circumstances change. So be open to face the extreme ups or downs in life. Just stay sensible and realistic!!!
