The best thing in Life….

“The best things in life aren't things”
                                                                                    - By Buchwald, Art

According to me the best thing in life is to "follow your heart and do what you really want in life". Many times, in the hustle-bustle of life, we often forgot to listen to our inner feelings and takes decision on the basis of various logics suggested by our brain. I think it’s anxiety, which stops us to take decisions on the basis of our heart as the heart is unrestricted and is driven by emotions on the other hand, mind is practical, rational and is driven by facts (sometimes FEAR too!!!).

It requires lots of courage, commitment and strength to follow your heart because it leads us to follow an avant-garde path.  After completing my graduation, I was about to join MBA in one college in Noida but at the same time got admission in one post graduate course in New Delhi related to Medical sciences. All my friends and family members advised me to join MBA over that course because being an MBA means secure and a better career. It also guarantees money and good position in professional life. Moreover I was not sure about the job prospects of pure applied science course. But I followed my heart and joined that applied science course and now I have no regrets about my decision. I believe that regret is the most painful as well as a powerful emotion in life.

It could be Regret of not listening to your heart; Regret of not confessing your emotions; Regret of not following your dreams and so on. The best way to come out from any regret is to admit/confess it without any fear of failure/acceptance/rejection.

I don’t know about others, but whenever I start following my heart, my mind comes into an action and starts bringing up all the reasons to drop an idea of to do what I desire. It starts reminding me about my past failures and dare consequences of it. As a result, many a times my mind wins over my heart.

Several people don’t follow heart because of family and societal pressure and/ or fear. They pretend that they are happy with what they have and what they are doing. The best way to find out about real desires in life is to spend some time alone and dig deep inside and ask yourself what you really want to do. Be honest with yourself! May be in between you feel confused, scared but definitely it will help you in the long run as you will come to know about your actual desires, values , passion and more importantly PURPOSE in life!!!

Just realized that I have written one page blog post about “following your heart” but I am not sure whether I follow this mantra religiously or not!!! Need to analyze that
